  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp Water optional, for thinner consistency

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Wash and hull the strawberries, then quarter any larger ones to ensure even cooking.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the prepared strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Add water if desired for a slightly thinner compote.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries soften and the mixture thickens, about 10-15 minutes. Lightly mash some berries for a chunkier texture if preferred.
  4. Remove from heat and let the compote cool completely before serving or storing.

Notes

This compote can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. It's delicious warm or cold!
