Ingredients
  

Cabbage and Filling
  • 1 large head cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cheese (optional, for topping)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring water to a boil and blanch the cabbage leaves for about 2 minutes to soften. Remove and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, cook the ground beef or turkey with the chopped onion and garlic until the meat is browned.
  4. Stir in the cooked rice, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Assembly and Baking
  1. In a baking dish, layer the cabbage leaves and the meat mixture, alternating as you go.
  2. Top with cheese if desired.
  3. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, removing the foil for the last 10 minutes to brown the cheese.

Notes

Serve warm, paired with a simple salad or crusty bread. Ensure to store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge.
