Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot, bring water to a boil and blanch the cabbage leaves for about 2 minutes to soften. Remove and set aside.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef or turkey with the chopped onion and garlic until the meat is browned.
- Stir in the cooked rice, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Assembly and Baking
- In a baking dish, layer the cabbage leaves and the meat mixture, alternating as you go.
- Top with cheese if desired.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, removing the foil for the last 10 minutes to brown the cheese.
