For the bites
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup Can be adjusted to taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup dark chocolate (chopped or chips) Use unsweetened for a healthier option.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine sunflower seeds, maple syrup, and salt. Mix well until the seeds are well coated.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate in a microwave or double boiler until smooth.
  3. Stir the sunflower seed mixture into the melted chocolate until well combined.
  4. Spoon small amounts of the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Refrigerate for about 1 hour or until the bites are firm.

Notes

These bites can be served on their own or as part of a snack platter. They also make a great topping for yogurt or can be crumbled over a salad for added crunch. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. For freezing, separate with parchment paper.
