Preparation
- Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
- Combine the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, butter, and salt in a medium saucepan.
- Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly with a spatula.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm, then lift the fudge out of the dish using the parchment paper and cut into 1-inch squares before serving.
Notes
For best results, do not overheat the fudge mixture to prevent it from becoming grainy. Ensure to chill the fudge thoroughly for clean cuts and a firm texture. Store any leftover fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or in the refrigerator for longer freshness.
