Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture.
  5. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden.
  7. Allow to cool, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

These cookies are best served fresh, but they can also be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe container for up to three months. Experiment with shapes by using cookie cutters for festive designs, and try adding flavors like lemon zest or almond extract.
