  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Sifted for light texture.
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Sifted for better mixing.
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk At room temperature.
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs At room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Add-ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Semi-sweet or dark chocolate for extra flavor.
  • Powdered sugar for dusting For serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  2. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serving
  1. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
  2. Serve on a lovely platter with fresh fruits or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For better mixing, ensure eggs and milk are at room temperature. You may use cake flour for a lighter texture or whole wheat flour for a healthier option. Chopped walnuts or pecans can add a lovely crunch when folded in with the chocolate chips.
