Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup almond flour You can substitute with oat flour for a nut-free option.
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup maple syrup Can be substituted with agave syrup.
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil, melted Ensure it is melted but not hot.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the almond flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the melted coconut oil, maple syrup, applesauce, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
  2. Allow to cool before slicing into squares.

Notes

Serve warm with vegan ice cream, a sprinkle of powdered sugar, or a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or refrigerate for up to a week. They freeze well for up to 3 months.
