Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 ¼ cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • ½ tsp Salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter (2 sticks), softened
  • ¾ cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Packed light brown sugar
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
Add-ins
  • 2 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer
  • Baking sheets
  • Parchment paper
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula
  • Wire rack

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
Making the Dough
  1. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Baking
  1. Scoop generous balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving enough space between them for spreading.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
  3. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the dough. Chilling the dough for at least 30 minutes, or even overnight, will enhance the flavor and thickness of the cookies.
