For the Peach Filling
  • 4 cups fresh peaches, sliced Use ripe peaches for best flavor.
  • 1 cup sugar Adjust based on sweetness of the peaches.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
For the Topping
  • 2 cups sourdough bread crumbs Regular bread crumbs can be used as a substitute.
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix sliced peaches with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Spread the peach mixture in a greased baking dish.
Making the Topping
  1. In another bowl, combine sourdough bread crumbs, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Stir in melted butter and milk until well mixed.
  3. Pour the topping over the peaches in the baking dish.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the peaches are bubbly.
